Keira Christina Knightley born 26 March 1985 is an English actress and model. Her father is English and her Scottish-born mother is half Welsh ancestry. She is dyslexic, but succeeded in school, and was therefore allowed to acquire a talent agent and pursue an acting career.

Knightley breakthrough role was in the football-themed film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a success in its August 2002 UK release, grossing $ 18,000,000 and in March 2003 U.S. release, grossing $ 32,000,000.
